June 28, 2009 Slinger Speedway
Overheating problems with the #19 Monte Carlo caused our race to be cut short this Sunday. We started 6th row inside. Our goal was to get to the front, but the car in front didn't have the same thought. We had some contact, causing some very minor damage to the hood. On lap 7, we were fortunate to avoid a pretty serious wreck between the #98 of Rob Braun and the #11 of Rob Myers. The race was red-flagged. We ran about 10 laps at the restart when the car started to overheat, and opted to bring her off the track.
APR's next scheduled race will be July 12 at Slinger.

June 21, 2009 Slinger Speedway
Starting on the 5th row inside is getting a little repetitious, but last nights race was anything but. We qualified 9th out of 11 cars, 12.652, starting us 9th in the 35 lap main event, which, luckily, went caution free. We figured we were once again in a line that wouldn't move, but how wrong we were. By lap 11 we had raced up to 5th place, and by lap 19 we have moved into 4th place. We made several attempts to pass the 3rd place car of Trevor Dassow, but laps ran out, and we came home with a top 5 finish. Thanks go to Dave and Jerry for giving us a great car. Our next race will be Sunday, June 28 at Slinger for the Keith's Marina 2009 Firecracker 85. Rain date will be July 5. See you at the races #19
June 14, 2009
The car count was down in all divisions this past Sunday.
Only 12 Late Models competed in the US Army night.
We qualified 9th, which put us 5th inside for the 35 lap main
event. Although all the cars in front of us should have been "movers",
once the green flag dropped, they all pretty much held their same positions
in the caution-free race. We started 9th and finished 7th. Still a top
10 finish, and we're proud of that.
APR's next race is actually an addition to the schedule and that
will be this coming Sunday at Slinger, June 21. Its also Scout Night,
and all uniformed Scouts get in free.
May 24, 2009
The tide finally turned for the #19 Monte Carlo this past Sunday at the Slinger Speedway.
We were the fastest in practice based on 2 sessions and ran the fastest lap in the 35 lap main event. Our qualifying once again was disappointing, though, 12th out of 17 cars. With the invert being called at 8, this put us starting on the 6th row inside. We knew we had work to do. It turned out we were in the right place because by lap 3 when the first caution flag flew, we had passed 6 cars in front of us, now putting us in 6th position on the restart. The 2nd caution came a few laps later with a pile up in front of us in turn 1 that we quickly avoided. We continued to advance, and by lap 30 we had passed the 4th place car to take over 3rd. By lap 32 we were up to 2nd place and working on the win when we ran out of time. Team #19 came home with a 2nd place finish after starting 12th.

 - may 3.jpg)
As you can all see, our race season didn't have the greatest start. Both practice sessions went extremely well, with only a few minor adjustments needed to the car. We qualified with a 12.499. This gave us a starting position of 4th row inside for the 35 lap main event. When the green flag dropped, the throttle stuck sending the car into the turn 1 wall. As of now, we have no idea what might have caused this to happen, but hope to have some answers within the next day or so, along with the extent of all other repairs.
Our scheduled race for May 10 is now unfortunately cancelled, and plan to have the car back out at the track for the Memorial Day special on May 24 at Slinger Speedway.

APR 3rd fast at MIS
Sept, 19,
2008
Madison International Speedway
We could not have had a more
perfect day for racing at the Fall Classic yesterday at Madison Speedway.
We arrived at the track a little after 1pm in the afternoon. We got
the car unloaded, and immediately suited up for practice. Our first
practice session went ok, but knew we needed to make some minor adjustments.
Session #2 went better, but tweaking was still in order. By the time we went
out for qualifying, we were happy with the set up. and it all paid
off, as we qualified 3rd fast in time with an 18.929 out of 27 cars. Fast
time was set by Ross Kenseth with an 18.860, 2nd fast was 18.914. The
top 16 qualifiers automatically made the show. No need to run a
qualifying heat race or last chance race. Which gave us quite a break
in time until our feature.
And a long wait it was, as we
didn't get in line for our feature race until after 10pm. The invert
number was 12, so we were lined up 5th row inside for the 40 lap main event.
A field of 27 cars is always an invitation of a few good wrecks, and this
event didn't shy away from that one bit. However, the #8 (a.k.a.
#19)did a fine job of avoiding all of those wrecks, but we did end up losing
position mid-way through the race as a result, not to mention that the car
tightened up quite a bit, causing it to push in the corners, and we finished
13th.
This was our last scheduled race
for the 2008 season, but APR would still like to get to Elkhart Lake the end
of October if possible. So please check back on this website for more
info on that.

APR takes win #2 of 2008 season
Sept. 7, 2008
Slinger Speedway

After an almost total chassis setup change to the #19 Monte Carlo, APR
took home its 2nd feature win for the 2008 race season.
16 cars were on hand tonight for the Race of Champions at Slinger
Speedway in the Limited Late Model division.
We qualified with 12.426 - 8th fast out of 16 cars. Not as fast
as we wanted, but still a much improved time than in the past weeks.
This put us on the 2nd row inside for the 35 lap main event. We
started behind the #61 car of Jerry Eckhardt. Jerry took off and the
#19 was right behind him. By lap 10, we got passed by the #48
car of Brad Keith,. putting us now in 3rd place. We eventually
passed the #61 car to regain that 2nd spot , then started our battle to
catch the #48 car, although he had quite a fair advantage on us. But
we found ourselves gaining on him, and by lap 24 we were able to get past
him, moved into 1st place and held that position to take the checkered flag
and win the race.
Sincere thanks to our crew, Dave, Mike and Adam for all their hard
work and efforts to make this win possible.
Our next scheduled (and last race of the season) will be at Madison International Speedway in
Oregon, Wi. on Friday night, Sept. 19 for the Miller Lite Fall Classic.

Sunday, August 24
Slinger Speedway
APR pulled out another top 10
finish yesterday in the Al Schill Jr. Memorial Classic Race.
In honor of little Al, the #19 Monte
Carlo ran as #8, which was Al's number. The history of this car is that this
was Al's car when he ran for Gerry Gunderman, and the last car he raced, and
won, at Rockford Speedway. Nobody would have know that race
would be little Al's last race, as unfortunate circumstances took the life
of that promising young 24 year old driver that same night.
The LLM division changed the tire
rules, and is now allowing these cars to run on Hoosier tires. So in
addition to the re-design on this car, we were now on a different tire. Our
qualifying was not the greatest, we qualified 14th out of 18 cars. This put
us on the 8th row inside for the 35 lap main event. This race was a
major wreck-fest, to put it mildly. but with some great spotting and quick
thinking on our crews part, we skirted through 2 pile ups with only minor
body damage. The #8 finished 8th last night. #8 - started 8th row -
finished 8th - hmmm..wonder if we had a co-pilot.
APR's next race will be next Sunday,
Aug. 31, at Slinger Speedway for the Labor Day Special, complete with the
best fireworks in the state.
So until next week,

WIR is a great track, however, when
you're used to racing on a 1/4 mile, figuring out a set up for a 1/2 mile
can have its challenges.
The LLM had one 50 minute practice
session. We encountered some problems with the car pushing going
through the corners. The crew made some adjustments, and we went out again,
but we still didn't have it 100%. We moved some weight around and
adjusted stagger, but by now it was time for qualifying. 32 cars showed up
for the Big 8 Series race, we qualified 25th with a 21.232. The first 14 top
qualifiers were automatically in the show, everyone else had to run a last
chance race where the top 4 would transfer in. Our cards were dealt.
We had to run the last chance race.
We started 3rd outside in the 10 lap
heat race and finished 6th. This put us on the 4th row outside for the
12 lap last chance race. This was our best race of the evening.
The car was fast, and by lap 5 were up to 5th place. We worked hard to
pass the #97 car for the transfer spot, but ran out of laps, and finished
5th. We had a challenging day, but would like to take the #19 Monte
Carlo back to that track when they run their weekly show some Thursday night
with a new set up.
Thanks go out to Dave, Aaron, Cracker,
Kristine, and our newest mascot, Shelby, for all their help yesterday.
Our next race will be August 24 at
Slinger Speedway for the Al Schill Jr, Memorial race.
See you at the races.

It was a Sunday of "adjustments" for
the #19 Monte Carlo. Something wasn't right with the car, and we
couldn't put our finger on it. We adjusted stagger and sway bar, but
our little girl was just having a finicky day.
We qualified with 8th in time with a
12.504. Fast time was 12.411, so you can see there were 8 cars
very close in time. The invert was 10, so this put us on the 2nd
row inside for the 30 lap feature. We immediately moved into 2nd place
when the green flag dropped, and held that until lap 17 when the first
caution came out for a spin in turn 2. We now had to start on the
outside, and for some reason our car starting pushing in the corner, and we
sort of got hung out to dry on the outside line. We finished 6th, and
a top 10 finish is always something to be proud of, but we knew we had the
potential for a better finish.
APR's next race will now be at
Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, Wi on Tuesday, August 5 to run
with Big 8 Series Limited Late Models as part of the program for the Scag
Power Equipment Dixieland 150. This is another race where some of the
Nascar drivers will be participating in. Practice is at 1pm,
qualifying at 4pm, and racing at 7pm. Please go to
www.wisconsininternationalraceway.net for directions to the track, and
as always, check back on this website for any updates in the event of a
rainout.
Also note - schedule change. Our
August 17th race will now be August 24.

Slinger Nationals Recap
We got to the track early, around
10:30a.m. We had 2 rounds of practice, and during the first round of
practice we discovered a vibration. The crew went to work on the car,
and the 2nd round of practice confirmed that we had fixed our problem.
There were 20 Limited Late Models that
showed up for yesterdays race. We qualified 5th in time with a 12.452.
Fast time was 12.325. but we were very happy with what we turned.
We were lined up 3rd row outside for the 30 lap main event. By lap 5
we had advanced to 4th and working on passing the 3rd place car when we
totally lost power and the car shut down, ending our goals to winning the
Slinger Nationals. We found that a cable coil had come off. We
got it back on and the car started right away, so even though we didn't have
the chance to finish our race, we were still very happy it wasn't something
more serious.
APR wants to extend out thanks to our
awesome crew who took off of work yesterday to help us at the track.
Mike, Joel, Cracker, Henry, Aaron, Rob and Adam, who is our right hand man
and always there to help throughout the week.
Our next scheduled race will be July 27
at Slinger Speedway.

Top 5 finish for APR
June 29, 2008 - Slinger Superspeedway
Another night of waiting out the rain.
Our race day started out identical to last week, no qualifying due to the
lateness of the hour as the track waited until the weather system passed
through.
We were lined up based on points, in
our case, being 9th in points, our starting position was 5th row inside.
The green flag dropped and we began our steady battle for position in the 35
lap feature. By lap 20, we had moved into 4th place, and working on
passing the 3rd place car, but ran out of laps. We took the checkered
flag finishing 4th, after starting 9th. It turned out to be a fun
race, even with all the waiting around wondering if we were even going to
get the show in.
Our next scheduled race will be at
Slinger Speedway on July 15 for the 29th Annual Miller Lite Nationals.
Rain Date will be Wednesday, July 16.

Race Recaps
June 22, 2008
We arrived at the track around 2:30pm, ready to go
round 3 with yet another repaired race car. The morning started out sunny
and warm, but scattered showers developed in the middle of the afternoon.
We decided not to unload the car until the track made their final decision
whether to cancel or wait out the storm. They chose to wait out the
storm. By 5pm, the called for the 1st of our 2 practice sessions.
The car handled great.
Due to the lateness of the tracks decision, they
chose to forego all qualifying and each driver was lined up based on where
they were in the point standings and the invert. We are currently 10th
in points, and the invert number rolled was an 11. This put us on the
front row next to the 61 car of Jerry Eckhardt. Jerry pulled out in
front to take the lead, but the #19 Monte Carlo put the pressure on, and by
lap 19 we found our opening on the outside and took the lead.
Caution #1 came 1 lap later for a car that spun in turn 2. We
maintained the lead on the restart. Caution #2 came on lap 22 for another
spin in turn 3. Once again we held onto our lead, and drove to victory for
our 1st feature win of the 2008 season.
APR plans to race Sunday, June 29 at Slinger
Speedway, which will be the 4th of July show, fireworks and all. Rain
date will be Thursday, July 3.

Limited Late
Model feature turns out to be a
Slinger- wreckfest!
June 15, 2008
Who would thought it could
happen twice in a row! Unbelievable! After working every night to fix
the repairs to the #19 Monte Carlo from the practice wreck, we unloaded the
car, went out for practice, and only had to make some minor adjustments.
We were ready to go with a really good car. We qualified 13th out of 18 cars
with 12.632, not great, but not all that bad either. This gave us a starting
position of 7th row inside.
It was chaos from the time
the green flag dropped. Spinout after spinout, cars hitting the wall, and it
wasn't until the 2nd caution that we got caught up in it, making
contact with the car in front of us, and buckling the hood. But we
were still ok to finish. The race was only half way complete, and we were
already up to the 3rd spot. From 13th to 3rd...not too shabby.
But our excitement for a possible win was cut short when the 2 front row
cars of Dave McCardle and Cory Funk made contact, and once again, the #19
Monte Carlo had nowhere to go. We loaded up and came home to assess
the damage. We'll need a new radiator, new body panels, new hoses, and
various other parts, but nothing majorly damaged, no frame issues or motor
problems. Still in all, a very disappointing night for the entire team.
Our next scheduled race is
Friday, June 20 at Madison International Raceway. If this changes, we
will post it here. So please check back.
In the meantime, see you at
the races.

P.S. 18 cars started
the main event, and 4 cars finished!!!
May 25, 2008
Slinger Speedway
APR's evening was shortened
during the 2nd practice session yesterday. 2 cars running side by side made
contact on the back stretch and spun as we were coming into turn 2. The
opening we saw to get through it closed up as quickly as it opened, forcing
us into the wall. The #19 Monte Carlo suffered considerable right side
damage, but fortunately it was all bolt on pieces, no frame damage that we
could tell. We tried hard to get the car back together, with the help of
offers for parts from other teams, and the hard work of our own team, but
the radiator was too badly damaged to hold water, putting an end to our day.
However, a strange turn of
events took place. The owner of one of the cars that was involved in
this wreck, #95, Dean Milikin, whose car was not damaged, offered Scott to
drive his car in the 15 lap semi feature. He was positioned to start
in the back of the field. We got suited up, our crew transferred radio
headsets, and we were on our way to race. It was a pretty exciting
race, as Scott took the #95 from 8th position to finish 3rd!!
As of this writing, it is still
undecided if APR will race this next Sunday (not a scheduled race).
Everything will depend on how well the repairs are coming along. Our
next posted scheduled race is June 8th at Slinger. So please check
back later this week for updates.
Despite the coolers temps, the
#19 Monte Carlo had a great night. We qualified 6th fast out of 25
cars, with 12.356, our fastest time so far in this car. We were
disappointed that we missed the trophy dash once again by 1 car, but we had
a great starting position in the 25 lap feature. 3rd row inside, or
5th position.
When the green flag dropped, we
had moved into 3rd spot behind Tyler James and Gregg Pawelski, and had a
decent lead on the pack behind us, which turned out to be a good thing as a
number of cars spinning in turn 3 on lap 5 brought out the 1st caution flag.
As racing resumed, we continued to maintain our position, but now found
ourselves battling for 3rd as the inside line began to prevail, and we were
on the outside. Caution #2 came on lap 15 for debris on the track. On
the restart, we had dropped back to 4th position. Lap 18 brought out the 3rd
caution flag, when the 2nd place car hit the wall in turn 2 in front of us,
and with some quick reflexes. we dodged around that one. By lap
23 we had passed the 3rd and 4th place cars, and crossed the finish line in
2nd place.
Our next race will be at Slinger
Speedway for
E.H. Wolf and Sons
Memorial Day Special with
Fireworks
on May 25th. Rain date will be
Monday, May 26th.

May 4, 2008
If the remainder of the season is as good as
today, APR will be very happy.
We went out for practice, and the car
handled so well that we opted to not make any changes.
18 cars in the Limited Late Model division
showed up for the Slinger Speedway Season opener. We qualified 3rd fast in
time, with a 12.483. Due to the 120 lap Late Model feature, the speedway
decided to forego the trophy dashes. The trophy dashes consist of the 5
fastest qualifiers for 5 laps. So we were all a little disappointed about
that. But we had a good starting position in the 35 lap main event, 4th row
outside, or 8th position. The #19 Monte Carlo knew patience was the
key facture in this race, and patience paid off, as we continued to gain
position slowly but surely. 2 cautions interrupted our steady run, but
even with that, we crossed the finish line in 4th place, and came home with
an undamaged race car.
APR's next race will be on Sunday, May 18,
at Slinger Speedway. This will be a night race, with qualifying at
4:15 and racing at 6pm.
See you at the races.

Madison International Speedway
APR pulls off another top 10 in its final race of the season. APR
chose to run our last race of the season at Madison International Speedway
in their Fall Classic program. We arrived at the track around 10:30a.m.
Practice was scheduled to start at noon. There were a number of divisions
competing that day, as their regular Friday night program got rained out.
Qualifying started promptly at 4pm. 23 cars competed in the Limited Late
Model division. We qualified 19th out of those 23 cars, with a 19.323. This
gave us a starting position of 10th row inside or 19th position. Its been
many years since the #19 Monte Carlo had to start that far back. Set back
#1. As we were lined up for the race, and told to pull out, for some reason,
our car would not start. Set back #2. Everyone worked feverishly to get us
going, but the green flag waved, and the limited late model feature was
underway minus the #19 Monte Carlo. As the field came into turn 3 on the
very first lap, 4 cars tangled, bringing out the first caution. What a break
for us!! By this time, we had gotten the car started, and pulled out onto
the track and because 1 full lap was not completed, we were able to fall
right into our starting position. It was all uphill from there. We found our
grove, kept passing cars one by one, and finished in 9th position. Needless
to say, after all the complications of the day, to go home with a top 10
finish from Madison made us all very happy.
So...wow...another race season has come to an end. APR sends sincere
thanks to all of our sponsors for their support this past season. None of
this would have possible without your help. And to our awesome crew, Mike,
Kristine, Henry, Cracker, Dave, Jason and Justin. And particularly, to Gerry
Gunderman for giving us the opportunity to advance our racing career.
The 2008 race season will be much the same as this year. We plan on
running a part time schedule, with a few more races at Madison International
added to the schedule. Please check back on this website early next year for
a full schedule.
Have a great winter, a wonderful Holiday season, and hope to see you all
in the spring "at the races".

APR
goes to Victory Lane twice in one day!
September 16, 2008
Today was the final
race at Slinger Speedway for 2007 race season. The program was a little
different today, and a lot of fun, in that the track officials decided to
run heat races again. Qualifying determined your starting position for the
heat race, and the heat race determined your starting position in the
feature. We qualified 6th with a 12.528. This gave us the front row inside
starting position for the 8 lap heat race. By lap 2 we had moved out front
to take the lead and the win.
This win then gave us the same starting
position for the 25 lap feature. Front row inside. Once again, the #19 Monte
Carlo dominated the race with a 4 car lead over the 2nd place car, and we
maintained that lead from start to finish. And once again, we had the thrill
of driving the #19 Monte Carlo into victory lane.
Thank you to our sponsors, The Corner Pub/Ixonia
Pub and Powers and Associates for coming to Slinger Speedway today to cheer
on their favorite driver.
Our next, and final race of the season, will be
Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Madison International Speedways Fall Classic.
Gates open at 3:30pm, qualifying at 4pm, racing at 6pm. Just click on the

Labor Day Special
Slinger
Speedway Sept. 2, 2007
The #19 Monte
Carlo certainly has had better nights than the one we had last night.
Our problems started after 3 laps into our first practice session when
we were coming into turn 3. The #73 car of Dan Bowe did not know we
were on the inside of him when he drove down and we made contact. The
entire right front fender got damaged. But our crew worked feverishly
making repairs and we were able to get out for our 2nd practice session.
We qualified
8th with a 12.611. Once again, we made the pole. Yah!! We were strong
and running in first until lap 15 when we came upon lap traffic and got
stuck behind the lap car. As a result, we got passed by 2 cars, pushing
us back into 3rd position. Then on lap 20 we were on the outside passing
the #14 when he came up the track right into us and ripped 3/4 of the
drivers side body off our car. So off the track we go once again to get
repaired. We were able to get back on the track before the green flag
waved and finished 16th.
APR plans to
be off this coming weekend and will race at Slinger Speedway on Sunday,
Sept. 16. This will be afternoon race. Gates open at noon, and racing
at 2pm. That will be the last Slinger race of the season. We have one
more race planned for Saturday, Sept. 22 at Madison International
Speedway in Oregon, Wi. Stay tuned for further details on that event.
See you at

ANOTHER TOP 5 FOR THE BIRTHDAY BOY!
Slinger Speedway - Aug. 26, 2007
The full moon
and cooler temps last night worked in our favor. We went out for
practice, and were somewhat pleased with our lap times, but decided to
make some further minor adjustments. A never ending process! We
qualified with a 12.562. One of our better times all season. Still in
all, we ended up 10th on the totem pole, but still very
competitive, as the majority of the drivers were only 1/100th of a second apart. The invert number last night was 12, so that put
the #19 Monte Carlo in the 2nd row on the inside for 30 lap
main feature.
As you know,
the Slinger pace car brings the field around in order before the green
flag drops. In the past, the pace car would go off the track in the
backstretch, and the field would start to accelerate in turn 3 so by
the time they came to start/finish line and the green flag drops, the
cars are pretty much up to speed. Well, as of last night, the pace car
stays on the track and doesn't go off until all the cars get through
turn 4. We started behind Ty James (#27). He did a great job, took
off, and lead the field and we were right behind him. By lap 3 were
moved into 2nd position. However, we lost some ground after
the 2nd caution, and fell back a little, but still came home
with a top 5 finish!
Our next race
will be this coming Sunday, Sept. 2 at Slinger Speedway in the Bob Fish
Pontiac, Buick, GMC Trucks Labor Day Special. Be sure to come and cheer
for your favorite driver (#19), and enjoy the fireworks.
Rain date will
be Monday, Sept. 3.

After qualifying 10th out of 19 cars, we knew we had some work ahead of
us if we missed the invert. We did, and we started 5th row outside,
however, we had some pretty strong cars in front of us, so if they did
their part to keep our line moving, we would be good. And they did. By
lap 13 we had moved into 5th place. But once again, due to the number
of cautions, the officials decided to shorten our race from 25 laps to
20 laps. When the green flag dropped after the 3rd caution, we had moved
into 4th place with 2 laps to go. But the track made the decision to
end the race UNDER CAUTION on the 18th lap. APR is still very happy
with another top 5 finish.
Our
schedule shows our team racing again on August 26th. However, please
check back later in the week as we may decide to add August 19th to our
schedule at Slinger also.
Have a great week. and see you at the races.

Sunday, July 29, 2007
Another hot and sticky day at the track, once again making track
conditions a little slick. We went out for our first practice and were not
pleased as the car was loose. We made some adjustments, then went out for
our 2nd session and our laps times improved, but now the car was tight in
the corners. And in addition to that, we had a tire "shrinking" problem,
meaning every time we took the measurements after racing, the tire seemed
to be getting smaller. Weather conditions? Bad tire to start with? We
didn't know.
We qualified 10th out of 15 cars, not very good. This put on the 6th
inside for the 30 lap main event. Patience would be the key word for this
race. The green flag dropped and we worked hard to gain position, but
getting stuck back in a pack of cars made it difficult to move up or
around.
However, we held our own, even getting around 2 different wrecks
(Phew!!). We crossed the fnish line in 7th place. Special thanks to our
spotters, Kristine and Mike, for keeping The #19 Monte Carlo out of
trouble. Now for the next 2 weeks the agenda will be to try and get this
car re-set to where it should be. Our next race will be at Slinger
Speedway on August 12 for the Pepsi Challenge Round 3.
See you at the races!

2nd place finish in the Miller
Lite Nationals!
July
17, 2007
The
gates opened at 8a.m for this major event at Slinger Speedway, and we
arrived just slightly before that. Haulers were lined up 5 rows deep by
the time got there. We got our parking spot, unloaded the car, and got
ready for tech and our first practice. The weather was muggy and foggy
and threatened rain for most of the day, making the track somewhat slick.
We went out for our first practice and turned some pretty decent times,
but knew we could do better. We made some adjustments to the car that
seemed to help. Our new tires didn't arrive at the track until just before
qualifying, which was a disadvantage to us because by then, all our
practice sessions were over, and we didn't have opportunity to scuff them.
We
went out for qualifying and turned a 12.625 on our first lap, but spun in
turn 2 on our 2nd lap. We ended up 12th in time out of 26 cars. All
prepared for a starting position around 6th row, we once again find out
that the invert was 12, putting the #19 Monte Carlo ON THE POLE!
The
green flag dropped, and by lap 2 we had pulled away from the 2nd place
car. We were on a roll when caution #came, then caution #2, then caution
#3. But the #19 maintained her position on each restart. Due to the
number of cautions, the race was shortened from 35 laps to 25 laps. On
the restart after the 4th caution on lap 19, we were overtaken by the #5
car of Derek Thorn, and came across the finish line in 2nd place. A great
job for APR.
Many
thanks go out to our fabulous crew for taking off of work to help, and our
excellent spotters for keeping us safe on the track.
Our
next race will in 2 weeks on July 29th, at Slinger Speedway.
See
you at the races..

Another top ten finish at
Slinger!!
July 15, 2007
The
#19 Monte Carlo didn't win last night like we did on July 1st, but we
still had a decent night.
We
were the first to go out for qualifying. We qualified with 12.654,
actually not too bad for that car, but pretty low on the totem pole. We
ended up 16th out of 20 cars. This put on the 8th row outside for the 30
lap main event. We haven't started that far back in years! However, with
a little patience and a couple of cautions, we did finish 9th, and a top
10 finish is always nice in the record books.
APR
plans on racing in the Slinger Nationals on Tuesday, July 17. Gates open
at 3pm, racing at 7pm.
See
you at the races!

APR
Finishes
First
on the
1st !!
July 1, 2007 -
APR led flag to flag to capture our first feature win of the season in the
25-lap limited late model main event.
Our first night back to Slinger Speedway since June 10 for the Keith's
Marina 85 proved to be an exciting night for the #19 APR team. We qualified
11th out of 22 cars, with a 12.590. After making a number of changes to the
car, we were all prepared to start somewhere in the middle of the field.
But, as luck would have it, they decided to invert 11 cars in our race, and
we found ourselves with a starting position of front row outside. (With this
kind of luck we should now go to Vegas!!) The #19 charged into the
lead when the green flag dropped, holding off the #49 of Andy Evraets. Our
spotter, Kristine, did a great job of getting us down to the inside lane as
quickly as possible. Contact between two cars behind us brought out the only
caution of the evening on lap 2, which triggered a multi-car incident in
turn two with the cars of Joel Laufer and Jim Dragich suffering the worst
damage after Laufer's car drove completely under the machine of Dragich. We
were once again strong on the restart, with Jon Reynolds Jr. right behind
us. Although Reynolds tried his best to pass us on the inside, we were able
to hold him off and take home the checkered flag. Special thanks to
Kristine, Henry, Mike, Jerry and Dave for all their help last night. We
couldn't have done it without you.
Our next race is
scheduled for July 15th at Slinger Speedway.
See you at the
races!

Dells
Raceway Park Big 8 - 58
June 12, 2007- The
team arrived at the Dells Raceway Park mid morning, and proceeded to get the
car ready for our first practice.
We found that when
we took the car across the tracks scale, that what we had our car set up for
at home was totally off from what the track showed. So because we had to
make some changes, we missed our first practice.
We got out for the 2nd
practice session, and the #19 Monte Carlo was totally dialed in.
Qualifying started
at 4:30pm. First out to qualify were the ASA cars, 59 in all. Then the 35
Limited Late models. If you qualified in the top 14, you were automatically
in the feature.. We qualified 9th with a 14.727. Fast time was
14.404. Because we already were guaranteed a spot in the show, we did not
have to run in any of the heat races.
The Big 8 - 58
(meaning 58 laps) was scheduled to run after the 100 lap ASA race. By the
time we finally got in the car for our race, it was almost 10:30pm.
We started 3rd
row outside. Normally an excellent starting position in a field of 24
cars, but the Dells is what they call a "one grove" track, and that
"grove"was the inside line. So we had work cut out for us to get inside as
quickly as possible. The green flag dropped and we were on our way! Only a
little too quickly on our way, because on lap 5 we made contact with the car
in front of us, sending him spinning into the inside wall. We were ok, but
were sent to the back of the field. Well, this wasn't a good start! The
green flag dropped again on the restart, and we were quickly gaining
position again, when on lap 25 three cars spun in turn 3 right in front of
us, and in trying to avoid them, we ended up hitting the wall, ending our
chances for the $1000 to win. The damage to the car isn't too bad, upper
and lower control arms, and a lot of body damage to the right front. All in
all, it was a great experience running in our first Big 8 Series race, and
met a lot of nice drivers from all over the state.
APR still plans on
racing coming Sunday at Slinger Speedway. Then will be off the following
week.
See you at the
races!

Scott takes home first DNF
of the season at Slinger
June 10, 2007 - Welcome Malkins Carpets to
Slinger Speedway! Temps were in the low 80's for this weeks race at
Slinger Speedway. Usually when the weather is hot, the track gets a little
tighter and qualifying times are a little slower. We qualified 7th out of 15
cars, with fast time being set at 12.458. The #19 Monte Carlo qualified at
12.624. Not fast enough to make the trophy dash this week.
Our starting position for the 30 lap main event
was 4th row inside. No invert this week, which was very unusual. Whoever
qualified the fastest was on the front row, just like NASCAR. The green flag
dropped, and by lap 5 we had advanced from 7th position to settle
comfortably into 4th. However, by lap 17 the fickle hand of fact, along with
a bad spotter who told his driver he was clear to go down, and who obviously
did not see us on the inside of him, came down spun us out and put us in the
wall in turn 4. We suffered left front end damage, a broken spindle, and had
to be towed off the track. APR still plans on racing Tuesday, June 12, at
Dells Raceway Park, but as of this writing, we're still accessing the damage
and the reality of having the car put back together in time. Either way, APR
will be back at Slinger Speedway on July 17.
See you at the races.

Memorial Day at
Slinger Speedway - May 27, 2006
It was another great night of racing and our second 3rd place finish was
the flavor of the day for the #19 Monte Carlo at the Memorial Day Special at
Slinger Speedway.
Cooler temps resulted in slower lap times for all cars last night. Fast time
was 12.525. We qualified 7th out of 28 cars, with a 12.711, not quite enough
to make the Limited late model fast dash, but gave us a decent starting
position of 4th row inside for the 30 lap feature. Four cautions slow this
event, all luckily happening behind us. By lap 21 we had advanced to 3rd
position, and on the 29th lap we made our move to pass the 2nd place car of
Jon Reynolds, Jr., however, he came down into our lane, causing contact
between the two of us We sustained only slight damage to the right front
fender, and crossed the finish line in 3rd place.
Due to our late start in the season, and the
cancellation of our scheduled race last weekend, the next race for APR will
be next weekend, June 3, at Slinger Speedway. Also mark your calendars for
June 10 and June 17, also at Slinger. We would also like to thank our
sponsors, Powers and Associates and All Pro Asphalt, for joining us at the
track last night.
Happy Memorial Day!

Hello, APR fans!
The 2007 racing season is upon us, along with some great new changes. APR
will no longer be racing in the Midwest Sportsman division, but instead,
will be running a new car in the Limited Late Model division at Slinger
Speedway.
Our first race was on May 3 at Slinger. We were disappointed in missing
the season opener, due to some setbacks with getting our engine back, then
having to get the car set up. But we finally made it.
Not having any track time in this new car, we went out for our first
practice and started turning some pretty decent times. Fast time in the
Limited Late division is generally in the low 12's per lap. We were turning
12.6's, then 12.5's, then finally 12.4's. Our main concern was to get a feel
for the car and what it was going to do on the track. Our 2nd practice
session started out better than the first, but quickly turned sour when we
went to pass another car on the outside in turn 1. This car decided to
pit, came high, and put us into the wall. Luckily, the damage sustained was
a bent rim and a flat tire.
We got that changed, and went out for qualifying. We qualified 12.430,
5th fast in time. Our luck was turning around. We started on the pole in the
5 car trophy dash. Having to battle the #61 car of Jerry Eckhart was not
easy, but the #19 prevailed and we took the checkered flag and the win.
Our divisions main event was 30 laps. We started on the inside front row.
This row did not move well, and we promptly got pushed back to 5th position.
However, we worked our way through traffic and came home with a 3rd place
finish. Not too bad for our first night out in a new car.
Our next race will be this coming Memorial Day weekend at Slinger
Speedway. In the event of rain, this race will be held on Monday. Our
complete schedule will be posted on our schedule page soon.
APR would also like to welcome 2 new sponsors this year. Malkins Carpets
in Menomonee Falls, and Dave's Automotive in Jackson.
We're proud to have you on board.
and...how about this great new website? Special thanks to Shari Morgan at
www.myracewebsite.com .
See you at the races!

Mother nature forces the end of
the 2006 racing season.
Sept. 10, 2006
The 2006 racing season is officially
over for the #19 team of APR. All day rains cancelled the Race of Champions
scheduled for this past Sunday.
It has been quite the season with
many highs, some lows, and a lot of new experiences. Right now our plans for
the 2007 season remain the same in that we will again run a part time season
at various tracks. As soon as we get the schedules from these tracks, we
will put together the APR schedule, and post it.
In the meantime, we want to thank
each and every sponsor, for without you, this race season would not have
been possible. and a special thank you to our awesome crew, Joel, Cracker,
Henry, and Jerry.
See you in the spring!
Sept. 3, 2006
Once again, the #19 Monte Carlo
proved itself as a strong competitor in the Port a John 100 this past Labor
Day weekend.
We qualified 6th in time with a
12.907. Fast time was set by Dave Thomas with a 12.641. Our qualifying
time put us on the pole for the Midwest Sportsman Trophy Dash. The green
flag dropped and #19 took off like a shot and held a 3 car-length lead for
the entire race, for our 4th Trophy Dash win of the season.
The entire field of 21 cars started
in the 30 lap feature. We had a starting spot of 5th place, 3rd row inside,
behind the #35 car of Pat McIntee. By lap 3 we had taken over the 3rd spot
and maintained that spot until lap 14 when the #21 car of Corey Funk found
himself on the inside wall in turn 3. On the restart, the 1st place car of
Mike Borchardt spun in turn 2, bringing out the 2nd caution of the night.
We were now in 2nd place, and the battle began. McIntee was slowing losing
his advantage over us, as we were gaining steadily. However, we had to deal
with one more caution on lap 17. On the restart, the other #19 car of Dave
Thomas was now joining the battlefield, so now McIntee had 2 - #19 cars in
his rear view mirror. The excitement really started to swirl with our car
being right on McIntee's bumper and Thomas right on ours. It was race that
all you could do was hold your breathe until the end. On the final lap we
dove to the inside to try and get past him, but McIntee crossed the finish
line a half of a car length ahead of us, leaving is with a 2nd place finish,
which we were still very happy with. Our crew did an awesome job keeping
us safe..and fast.
APR has added one more race to our
schedule, and that will be once again at Slinger next Sunday, Sept. 10.
Happy Labor Day!!
See you at the races!
Milwaukee Mile Aug.
25-26, 2006
It was a bittersweet and extremely
educational weekend these last 2 days at the Milwaukee Mile. Mother Nature
was not putting her best foot forward either. We arrived at the track early
afternoon on Friday. Because it had started to rain, we opted to not unload
the #19 just yet, so we walked over to where the #21 ASA car was parked and
check in with Chris and the crew. Unfortunately we were unable to park the
haulers side by side, so needless to say, we were doing a lot of running
back the forth. But thanks to our personal ATV chauffer, Brad Keith,
getting from car to car saved a ton of time.
It finally stopped raining, and we
were able to get in the Mid Am car for our first practice, over 2 hours
later than originally scheduled. The car ran well, only needed a few minor
adjustments. After that we hightailed it to the ASA car, got belted in and
took it out. We were running in the low 33's our first session out. We had
long way to go!! The second session we had gained over a second and was now
turning times in the low 32's. Better, but still not fast enough. But it
started to get dark out, so our practice sessions for the day were over.
Saturday we arrived at the track at
7a.m. Our first and final practice session was scheduled for 8a.m..but once
again..everything got delayed due to rain. By 10a.m. the track was dry
enough to start practice. Once again we were happy with the car, so we
finished that practice and jumped in the ASA car. This time we gained
another second, and were now turning times in the mid 31's. A few
adjustments were made to the car, and we finally had confidence in what that
car was going to do.
The Mid-Am cars were the first to
qualify. But we still needed to make some adjustments to the ASA car, with
me in it, which means we would miss Mid-Am qualifying. However, our Mid-Am
director allowed us to qualify after the ASA cars. ASA qualifying order is
determined by the pick of the draw. We ended up picking #1, which was
great, because then it gave us enough time to get #19 ready for qualifying.
The ASA cars were supposed to get 2 laps of qualifying, so Chris and the
crew set the tires pressures to allow for 2 laps. We got on the track, and
did our best time so far with a 31.47, but when we crossed the start finish
line, we got the checkered flag. It seems the decision was made while we
were out on the track to go from 2 laps of qualifying to 1 lap. Had we had
that additional lap, we would have very easily turned a high 30. Good
enough to make the feature, but, unfortunately, our 31.47 was not good
enough, and we did not make the show. We were all so very disappointed. A
sincere THANK YOU goes out to Dave's Automotive, The Corner Pub, Schultz's
Whitetail Inn and Jack Pellman for your support and confidence in this race
team. We strongly feel that had ASA not changed the program at the last
minute, we would have made that race.
We qualified the #19 Monte Carlo, and
came in 11th in time out of 36 cars, with a 32.92. This put us in the 3rd
row inside for the 40 lap main event. And what a race that was. By lap 10
we had pulled into the lead, and lead that race for 22 laps. A caution on
lap 14 brought the field closer together, making our 2 car- length lead on
James Swan more challenging. On lap 33, we went a little high in turn 3 and
James Swan and George Schultz both passed us, putting us back into 3rd.
Which was were we finished. We were on cloud 9! However, our excitement
was short lived when we went into tech after the race and discovered we
weighed in 30lbs too light. Somehow, somewhere along the way we failed to
add weight to the car, not adjusting properly for the amount of fuel we
would actually use. So the #19 got disqualified. We lost out on any
points, all money, and the chance to compete in the Dash for Cash race today
at the Milwaukee Mile. Still, once everything was said and done, the #19
put on one hell of a show for our sponsors, fans, friends, and family who
were able to make it yesterday. And that would not have happened without
the the help of our awesome #19 crew....thank you..Joel, Cracker, Jerry,
Henry, and Adam.
Our next race will be Sunday, Sept.
4th at Slinger Speedway. Rain date will be Monday, Sept. 5. That is APR's
last scheduled race for the 2006 season. In the event we decide to run any
additional races, we will let you know.
See you at the races!
The Mid-American Stock
Car series presented a field of sharp looking racing equipment for this 40
lap event. We started the evening qualifying 9th, with a 13.388. This put
on the front row for the 10 lap heat race. When the green flag dropped, we
immediately took and dominated the lead until the end.
Our 40 lap main event
found us with a starting position of 2nd row inside. Jeff Tisler, a regular
at the 141 Speedway took the opening lead in the contest. The #19 Monte
Carlo would give chase in the second spot, though Tisler's pace allowed him
to slowly pull away from the field. Deeper in the pack, veteran Central
Wisconsin racer Lyle Nowak and series front runner James Swan were quickly
moving through the pack.
Tisler had extended his
lead to a dozen car lengths by the time Nowak made his way into the second
position on lap 18, sending us back to 3rd position. With each passing lap
Nowak closed in on Tisler and the pair were about to duel for the lead
position when Ryan Finley spun in turn two with 11 laps to go in the contest
and was clipped by Andrew Kulka.
When racing began again
Tisler was back out front with the #19 and Swan giving chase. Swan worked
the high line to grab second as the event wound down. A final caution would
fly with six laps to go in the event as Finley looped his ride in turn
four. With a sprint to the checkered setup due to the late caution, Swan
was quick to challenge Tisler for the top spot. Darting to Tisler's inside
in turn one at the drop of the green contest Swan would steal the lead which
he would hold to the finish. Tisler would settle for second after pacing
much of the contest. We managed to fend off the challenges of multi-time
series title holder Bill Prietzel to finish 3rd. Prietzel would nail down
the 4th spot followed by fast qualifier Kenny Joosten.(Golden Sands Speedway
report)
Our big event is only 2
weeks away, The Governors Cup weekend at the Milwaukee Mile on Aug. 25th &
26th. We will list the schedule of events in the upcoming week.
See you at the races.
July 30, 2006
Slinger Speedway
Even though we had temps in the
mid-90's and heat indexes near 100, we felt it was necessary to race this
past Sunday at Slinger Superspeedway after making, what we hope will be,
final improvements/ repairs to the #19 Monte Carlo in preparation for our
August 11 trip to Golden Sands Speedway in Plover, Wi.
We qualified 4th in time out of 19
cars with a 12.813. This put us in the 2nd row on the inside (3rd position)
for the 6 lap Trophy dash. The #2 car of Mike Graczkowski shot into the
lead. We battled with the #98 of Rob Braun for 2nd place, and won that
battle. We were once again confident that our race car was strong and
stable, even with the slippery conditions caused by the extreme heat.
The track officials decided to invert
the top 10 cars (where they normally invert 8) this week for the 25 lap
feature, and we ended up starting in 8th position (4th row outside).
Depending on how fast the field moves, starting in 8th place can very easily
result in a top 5 finish, however, the entire outside line got rushed to the
back in the field due some less experienced drivers in front of us. Still
in all, we finished 11th, and came home with a straight car and only some
minor set-up issues for Golden Sands.
If you decide to take that road trip
out to Plover in 2 weeks, (and we'd love to see you) please click on the
link on our schedule page for times and directions. And, as always, be sure
to check this website prior for any cancellations or changes.
See you at the races.
Sunday June 9, 2006 Slinger
Superspeedway
The heat and rain did not make for
the best track conditions this past Sunday, but we still pulled off a 4th
place qualifying time of 12.940. We were also pleased that we had
pinpointed and successfully fixed where our oil leak was coming from.
Due to the impending storm warnings,
the entire night of racing was being pushed along as quickly as possible.
We started in 3rd position for the 6 lap Trophy Dash. By lap 3 we had moved
into 2nd place, and battled hard to take the lead from the #29 car of Dave
Borchardt, but the #29 crossed the start/finish line ahead of us by less
than a car length.
Our starting spot for the 30 lap
feature was 2nd row inside. The green flag dropped and once again we had
quickly moved forward. However, by lap 8 we found ourselves back in 5th
spot. Due to a number of cautions in our race, track officials shortened
our feature from 30 laps to 25 laps. On lap 20, a wreck occurred in turn 2,
and we drove to the inside to avoid it, but still ended up making contact
with the #48 of Brad Keith. We bent the rim on the right rear tire, so we
brought the car into the pits, and thanks to our awesome crew members (with
help from Ron Schmitt's team) they changed the tire and got us back out on
the track just at the restart. We finished 10th.
Our next race will be at Wisconsin
International Raceway in Kaukauna on July 22. This will be a Saturday night
race. Just click on the track logo on the schedule page for times and
directions. We will post any updates relating to cancellations due to
weather.
In the meantime....see you at the
races.
Slinger Speedway July 3, 2006
The stands at Slinger Speedway were
packed this holiday weekend, and an unusually larger car count for the
Midwest Sportsman competed in the Keiths Marina 85.
We qualified 9th out of 28 cars with
a 12.923. Not good enough to make the trophy dash, but perfect enough to
put us in the front row for the 30 lap feature. The day did not go as
smoothly as we all expected. We discovered an oil leak during our hot lap
session, and quickly fixed the problem, but when the green flap dropped, we
found it difficult to control the car. 5 laps before the end of the race we
were informed that the #19 was spraying oil on the track, and we pulled off
immediately. We will be tearing the car down this week to try and find the
source of this leak, and although we do not have Slinger Speedway on our
schedule for next Sunday, we may opt to run on July 9 to make sure we fixed
our problem prior to our scheduled race at Kaukauna on July 22. Stay tuned
for further details.
Have a safe and fun 4th of July. See
you at the races.
Madison International
Raceway - June 23, 2006
The 40 lap Mid American Stock Car series race this past Friday once again
proved that even with getting spun on the 36th lap that the #19 Monte Carlo
was still as strong and competitive as everWe qualified great, with a
19.506, 6th fastest of the 23 cars that entered this competition. We started
in 8th position in the 10 lap heat race and finished 3rd, which we were
quick happy with. Our starting position for the feature was 4th row inside
(7th position). Scott Null and Brad Keith led the field in the 40 lap main
event. We were slowing gaining position and by lap 30 we had moved into 5th
spot. However, that was short lived when the #1 car out of Elko,Mn came into
us in turn 2 on lap 36, and spun us around, bringing out the only caution of
the race. The call was made to send only the #19 to the back of the field,
and we had to settle for 19th place. The positive side, though, is that no
damage was sustained as a result of this spin.
Our next race will be July 2 at Slinger Superspeedway for the Keith's Marina
Firecracker 85. Raindate is Monday, July 3.
See you at the races!
Scott finishes 2nd and 5th at Kaukauna! June 10, 2006
After qualifying 11th out of 24 cars in the first Red, White and Blue race
at Wisconsin Internation Raceway this past Sunday, the #19 Monte Carlo once
again proved to be a strong competitor with some of the best Mid American
drivers. We started 7th in the 1st of the 10 lap heat races. By lap 4 we
had already advanced into 2nd position, but a caution came out on lap 5, and
the field reverted back to its previous lap, which put us back into 3rd. On
the restart we quickly passed the car in front of us and finished 2nd.
Now, with qualifying 11th, what are the odds that the roll of the dice for
the invert would come up 11!!! Believe it! We found ourselves on the pole
for the 35 lap main event. The green flag dropped, and we had quickly gained
a 5 car lead. We maintained that lead until lap 9 when the #35 car of Pat
McIntee spun in turn 3 and brought out the 1st and only caution. We fought
hard to maintain that lead, and remained quite competitive but ended up with
finishing 5th, which we were still all quite happy about.
We would like to thank our awesome crew, Dave, Jerry, Russ and Kristine for
all their efforts this past Sunday keeping #19 competitive and in one piece.
And thanks to our sponsor, All Pro Asphalt, for their extra support.
Our next race will be Friday, June 23 at Madison International Raceway.
This will be another Mid America series race. Please check the schedule page
and click on the track logo to link to that track for times and directions.
See you at the races...
Slinger Speedway - June 4, 2006
For the 2nd week in a row, the #19
race team was extremely pleased with our results. We qualified 4th out of 19
(don't you just love that number?) cars, with a 12.879. Fast time was set
by James Swan with 12.607. This put us in the 2nd row on the inside for the
6 lap Trophy Dash. 6 laps doesn't give a driver a lot of time, but we're a
determinded sort of team, and that determination paid off, when on the 6th
lap, the leader Brad Keith, drifted high and we took the lead. And the win!
We started 2nd row outside for the 40 lap main event. When the lead car of
Jeff Holtz experienced mechanical problems, Brad Keith took over the top
spot, and we found ourselves in 3rd position. James Swan starting marching
forward and on lap 19 drove past us and the 2 cars ahead of us for the
lead. Our car was starting to get loose, and on lap 25 we lost one more
position. We maintained our position of 4th up until lap 39 when we lost
yet another position, but still took the checkered flag in a very
respectable 5th place.
APR would like thank our sponsors
Ellison Technologies and The Corner Pub/ Ixonia Pub for their support at the
Races last night.
We would also like to welcome our
newest crew member, Russ Kramer, to the team.

Slinger Speedway - May 28, 2006 After working until 1:30a.m. Saturday
night, all our efforts getting the #19 Monte Carlo back into running order
after our wreck on May 7 paid off.
With
temps in the high 80's and a very slippery race track, we pulled off a 4th
place qualifying position of 12.9. Fast time was set by Mike Graczkowski
with a 12.8.
Our
starting position for the Trophy dash was 2nd row inside, and we tried our
hardest to get past the #3 car of Jeff Holtz, but with this race only being
6 laps, we finished where we started. 3rd.
Our
awesome crew of Joel Jackson and "Cracker" Graham (what an appropriate
nickname) worked hard to get our car adjusted to the slippery track
conditions. We had a starting position in the 30 lap feature of 5th row
inside. By lap 6 we were already into 5th place. Lap 16 brought out the
caution flag, and on the restart we experienced some mechanical problems
with the clutch and lost 4 positions, but by lap 25 we had passed those 4
cars and found ourselves battling for the lead against the #2 car of Mike
Graczkowski, who ultimately crossed the finish line ahead of us. We came
home with a 2nd place finish and a straight race car.
Our
next race will be Sunday, June 4th at Slinger Speedway.
Thank you to our sponsors, The Corner Pub, Powers and Associates, and All
Pro Asphalt for their support this past Sunday.
See
you at the races!
May 7, 2006 - Once again, Mother Nature
cooperated in bringing a beautiful 70 degree day for the Eden Meat Market 65
at Slinger Speedway. We qualified 6th with a time of 12.798 and
a pole position for the Midwest Sportsman Trophy dash, which is the 6th fastest cars for 6 laps. We started next to the #48 of Brad Keith.
It was a cat and mouse game the
entire race, but the #19 Monte Carlo proved itself strong and we crossed the
finish by inches to take our first win of the season.
Slinger Speedway changed their
schedule of events for 2006, and the Midwest Sportsman cars will now run
their feature before intermission.
We started 4th row
inside. The race got red flagged due to wild upside down ride by the #19
car of Dave Thomas, who hit the back stretch wall, overturned and slid on
Its roof starting in turn 3 to finally land on the infield of turn 4. On
the restart we starting gaining position, but on lap 8 we got spun in
Turn 2, and suffered considerable
damage to the front and left quarter panel. The crew was awesome in getting
us back out on the track before
The end of the caution, but the car
was not safe to drive, and we pulled off.
Our next race will be Memorial Day
weekend at Slinger Speedway for the E.H. Wolf and Sons Memorial Day Special
with Fireworks.
Rain date: Monday night May. 29.
See you at the races!
April 23, 2006 - It was a overcast and windy day for the season opener at Slinger Speedway.
The #19 Monte Carlo qualified 10th with a 12.8. Fast qualifier was Dave
Thomas with 12.5.
We had a great starting position, 2nd
row inside, for the 40 lap feature, however, our challenges started the
minute the green flag dropped. The inside line was steadily being forced
further and further back as the outside line was quickly moving forward.
After what appeared like forever, our spotter was finally able to give us
the all clear to move to the outside line, and we continued to gain
position, when the yellow came out for a spin in turn 2. As racing resumed,
we maintained our forward charge and finished with a respectable 7th place.
APR will be off this coming Sunday,
April 30, and will return to Slinger Speedway on May 7th for the Eden Meat
Market 65.
See you at the races.

April 14, 2006 - The 2006
season has officially started. APR was a participant in the "Last Opener" at
Lake Geneva Raceway this past Saturday. Our hot lap session went well, with
17.4 being our fastest time. We were the first one out on the track for
qualifying.
Fast time came in at 17.285, and we turned 17.504. Due to the impending bad
weather, the track cancelled all the
Heat races, but kept the fast dashes and the features. We qualified 8th out
of 18 cars, which put us on the 4th row
Outside for the 30 lap feature.
Luck wasn't on our side, though, and on lap 6 we spun and damaged a brake
line due to contact with the #13F of John Fischer. We brought the car in,
made our assessments and decided to not continue on.
Our next race will be this coming Sunday, April 22, at Slinger Superspeedway.
This is an afternoon race, with
Gates opening at noon, time trials at 1pm and racing at 2pm.
See you at the races.

The
2006 race season is quickly approaching and the shop is buzzing getting
ready for our season opener at Lake Geneva.
Our plans this year will be to run a
part time schedule similar to what we did in 2005 with a total of 13 races
planned. Check out our schedule page for dates and times, and click on the
track logo to link to that track for directions.
We want to thank all our 2005
sponsors for coming on board again in 2006. The team is anxious to get back
on the track, and we promise another exciting racing season.
